Civitan Logo

Although the logo of Civitan has changed a few times over the years, it has significant points that have remained constant.
The gold color represents purity of highly refined metal, indicative of those who would volunteer their time.
The blue is a regal color that, together with the gold, has become symbolic of many service club organizations, dating back to the early part of this century.
The "C" surrounding the globe represents Civitan service around the world.

Civitan Creed

I AM CIVITAN: as old as life, as young as the rainbow, as endless as time.

MY HANDS do the work of the world and reach out in service to others.

MY EARS hear the cry of children and the call throughout the world for peace, guidance, progress, and unity.

MY EYES search for others to join in the fellowship and service of Civitan.

MY MOUTH utters the call of daily duty and speaks prayers in every tongue.

MY MIND teaches me respect for law and the flag of my country.

MY HEART beats for every friend, bleeds for every injury to humanity and throbs with joy at every triumph of truth.

MY SOUL knows no fear but it's own unworthiness.

MY HOPE is for a better world through Civitan.

MY MOTTO: builders of good citizenship.

MY BELIEF: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

MY PLEDGE: to practice the golden rule and to build upon it, a better and nobler citizenship.

Fellowship, Knowledge, Service

The Three Basic Principles

Fellowship, Knowledge and Service.  These three things have, since the beginning of Civitan, been promoted as our three basic principles.

  • Fellowship amongst members and guests at all functions
  • Knowledge of one’s community, state, nation and world
  • Service to humanity

Following these three principles gives our members a well-rounded Civitan experience.

Civitan is an all-volunteer, international service organization for people who want to realize their full potential.  We are everyday citizens who come together to make life better for our neighbors. While Civitan helps many charitable organizations our major service focus is on helping the developmentally disabled.

Through the generosity of our members and the good citizens of the community, we are able to support the following groups, agencies, and organizations:

  • Civitan International Research Center
  • Children's Center School
  • M.A.R.C. - Montgomery Association for Retarded Children
  • Montgomery Miracle League
  • Montgomery Therapeutic Recreation Center
  • Footprints Ministry
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of the River Region
  • Faith Rescue Mission
  • and Others.

Ramp #4 Goes up!

The Montgomery Civitan Club recently built it's fourth wheelchair ramp!  With materials donated by the Prattville Home Depot, Tommy Johnson, Seth Johnson, Bill Sims, Dustin Woodley and James Moores made the trek to Selma to build number four and continue our clubs commitment to "do the work of the world and reach out in service to others."  If you have someone who needs a wheelchair ramp constructed, contact our Wheelchair Ramp Committee chairperson at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Get ready for next season.  Next Spring the Biscuits will be out on the diamond again and you'll be headed out to the ball park to enjoy the games.  When the time comes and you get to the park,  you'll see our members hard at work, taking up parking fees. You have other parking options but if you pull into one of the Montgomery Civitan Club's lots you'll not only know you have a great place to park, but you'll also become a huge help in making Montgomery a better community through the efforts of Montgomery Civitan. The parking fee is split between the City and the Civitan Club and all of our funds go directly into our Fund Raiser Account which is divided between local charitable agencies. So file that away until Spring and enjoy the Fall and Winter until then!
